MTD October 2014 News/views For Black's Tire, charity begins on the golf course The 14th Annual Black's Tire & Auto Service Charity Golf Tournament raised a record $85,934 for the Boys and Girls Homes of North Caroli- na. Black's Tire owners Ricky and Dianne Benton hosted close to 125 golfers at the Long Bay Golf Club in Longs, S.C., on Sept. 5. The golf outing was part of a weekend of celebration and charitable work by the Benton family, and their coworkers, friends and business associates. "We are proud to lend our support to the efforts of the Homes," says Ricky Benton. "The children who receive care there have a chance to better themselves." On Sept. 6, an open house, vendor fair and several training sessions were held at the corporate headquarters in Whiteville, N.C., in recogni- tion of the company's 85th anniversary and the formal opening of an expanded warehouse facility and BTS Academy and Training Center. The 2014 tournament proceeds raise the amount of cash gifts by Black's Tire & Auto Service to the Homes to $580,225. The Boys and Girls Homes care for an average of 150 children a day. Black's Tire is No. 30 on the MTD 100 with 35 outlets. Federal turns 60 Federal Corp. celebrated the corporation's 60th anniversary with a ceremony at the Moscow International Automobile Salon, with Manchester United player Bryan Robson the guest of honor. Federal Tyres is Manchester United's official tire partner in Russia and Taiwan. BKT sponsors Monster Jam Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT) is the official tire sponsor of the American Monster Jam show touring Europe. The company will design and supply specific tires for the entire fleet.
