Bruce Halle, chairman of Discount Tire based in Scott- sdale, Ariz., is Modern Tire Dealer's 2014 Tire Dealer of the Year. At the time Editor Bob Ulrich wrote the September cover article on Halle, his company had 887 stores. It added four before the month was over! Judging is based on business success, marketing skills, management skills, industry knowledge and community involvement. Our judges this year were: • Dan Hennelly who, along with his wife Diane Hennelly, was MTD's 2013 Tire Dealer of the Year. The Hennellys sold their 35 The Tire Choice and Total Car Care stores in Florida to Monro Muffer Brake Inc. earlier this year. Dan Hennelly is now a consultant for Monro. • Nick Mitchell, a research analyst for Cleveland, Ohio- based Northcoast Research Holdings LLC and author of MTD 's monthly "Your marketplace" column. • Wayne Williams, president of ExSell Marketing Inc. and author of MTD 's "Counter intelligence" column. • Dick Morgan, president of Morgan Marketing Solu- tions in Dallas, Texas, and an MTD contributing writer.
