The big keep getting bigger News of the largest retreader in the U.S., Southern Tire Mart LLC, getting even larger with the purchase of 46 GCR stores and 6 more retread plants was the most-read news item on last month (see MTD's 2019 chart of the top 50 largest U.S. retreaders starting on page 44). The second most popular item was about another large entity, Monro Inc., which entered the California market with its purchase of Certified Tire & Service Centers Inc.'s 40 retail stores in San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles and one distribution center in Riverside, Calif.
