MTD September 2015 Tire Dealer of the Year Black's Tire make plenty of those jokes — a visit to Black's Tire feels like a family reunion. Tere are married couples working for the company, as well as fathers and sons and brothers and sisters. High school classmates and childhood friends work together, too. And even those who join the company on their own quickly fnd themselves in the family business. Tey talk about the BTS family, and many wear black rubber wristbands showing this moto: Te BTS Way. Te culture might be Benton's greatest achievement. "You don't have to be blood to be related," he says. William Blake has worked for Black's Tire the last four years, and is the production manager at Carolina Retread, the company's retread shop in Clarkton, N.C. Soon afer he started he heard about the BTS family culture. "Tat's the way Ricky operates. Tat's the way Miss Dianne operates. Tat's the way his sons operate. Tat's the way his Ricky Benton says his wife Dianne "has been the backbone of everything we've done." She says the two of them have diferent skills. "He knew how to do what he was best at, and I knew how to do what I was best at, and never the two did meet." 34
