MTD December 2016 News/views Northwest Ohio retreader joins Marangoni network Hancock County Tire & Retreading in Bluffton, Ohio, has joined the Marangoni Tread North America Inc. dealer network and will offer Marangoni's Ringtread brand. The Bluffton retread plant is part of Sumerel Tire Service Inc., which is based in Newport, Ky. Bob Majewski, Sumerel Tire Service's chief technical officer, said, "Hancock County Tire & Retreading added the Marangoni Ringtread system because we like to be different in the way we go to market. Everyone sells precure treads, but the Ringtread separates us from the others." Sumerel Tire Service opened Hancock County Tire & Retreading in 2011 to further expand its coverage area in Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia. The 22,000-square-foot commer- cial truck tire service center offers many services for fleets, including casing asset management, fleet reporting, lowest cost per mile, and mounted wheel programs. Shrader buys lubricant business Toledo, Ohio-based Shrader Tire & Oil Co. has acquired the lubricant business of Keneco Distributors Inc. in nearby Findlay, Ohio. The 35-year-old Keneco was owned by Mary Beilharz-Miller and her late husband, Brad. The acquisition includes all of Keneco's lubricant operations, including a 18,750-square-foot facility, as well as inventory, vehicles, and equip- ment. Key Keneco personnel in management, sales, and operations have decided to join Shrader, providing business continuity. Shrader Tire & Oil is family owned and operated, and has been in busi- ness since 1948, servicing customers in the transportation, construc- tion, and manufacturing industries. Shrader operates 13 commercial tire and fleet service centers and four bulk oil plants throughout Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, and employs 200 people in the tri-state area. GRI acquires 2 U.S. companies Global Rubber Industries Pvt. Ltd. (GRI) is a specialty tire manufacturer based in Sri Lanka. It recently extended its distribution reach by acquiring two privately held tire dealers in the U.S.: Leffler Industrial Tire & Rubber Track Inc. and Kentucky Industrial Tire Inc. Leffler Industrial Tire is an Indianapolis-based company that special- izes in industrial forklift tires. It currently offers products and services in Illinois and Indiana. Kentucky Industrial Tire, based in Louisville and Lexington, offers the same products and services in Kentucky. Mike and Sherri Leffler founded Leffler Industrial Tire in March 2009 and established Kentucky Industrial Tire in January 2016. GRI supplies material handling, industrial, agricultural, OTR, and construction tires to more than 50 countries worldwide. Pep Boys is a supplier Pep Boys – Manny, Moe & Jack has partnered with Just Brakes Total Car Care to be a tire supplier. Accella renames line Accella Tire Fill Systems is switching to a simpler naming convention for its TyrFil branded line of polyurethane tire fill formulations. Point S expands The Point S independent dealer network is expanding into India through agreements with three regional partners. Hunter offers Identifix reports Hunter Engineering Co.'s Quick Check inspection system now provides diagnostic health reports from Identifix. Jamboree has tire partner Michelin North America Inc.'s BFGoodrich brand is the exclusive tire partner of Jeep Jamboree USA for 2017. Centric Parts wins award Centric Parts has won the 2016 Best Performance Product Award for its program of StopTech Big Brake Kits for the 1969-1989 Porsche 911 model range from the Import Vehicle Community (IVC), the import product arm of the Auto Care Association. AWDA honors Alliance The Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance Inc. (Alliance) has received the Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association's (AWDA) 2016 Pursuit of Excellence Award. TIA releases TPMS chart The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is accepting pre-orders for the newest version of the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) Relearn Chart which includes domestic and import vehicles model year 2008 through model year 2016. Top franchisees recognized Big O Tires LLC franchisees Dutch and Jacqui Tryon received the Franchisee of the Year Award from the International Franchise Association. The Tryons have stores in Topeka and Lawrence, Kan. bites Hancock County Tire & Retreading has joined the Marangoni dealer network.
